The night audit procedure closes
the business day and rolls the date to the next day. This chapter explains
the night audit procedure in the PMS.
The Night audit is usually conducted at a property when the entire days
events have been completed:
Although it is not mandatory that
these functions are performed prior to audit, it is advisable.
Other functions in the PMS, like
making a reservation, can be performed while the audit is running. The
only functions that should not be performed during the audit are postings.
The time to complete the audit autorun procedure will depend
on the size of the hotel and the size of the autorun procedures. It can
vary from 1 to 30 minutes.
Most hotels run their night audit around 3-5 am. A night auditor, night manager or night shift at reception will start the night audit. Some hotels run the night audit earlier (around 11 pm by evening shift ) or later (7 am by morning shift, just before check-out starts).
The audit autorun procedure in the PMS
is a one button event and can be activated by selecting the 'Start
Night Audit' from the Night Audit Menu. The night audit autorun procedure
includes many different functions and completes each function as part
of a checklist. These functions are included below in the menu and do
not require manual operation unless indicated by a support representative
or a failed function as part of the autorun.
Each function is described under separate topics as noted below.
