Financial shifts are optional in IDPMS. Many Hotels use shifts when
users share a cash drawer at the Front Desk. Each user logs into a specific
shift. The first user would open the shift and the last user would close
the shift.
If the hotel uses shifts, a user is required
to be logged on to a shift in order to post any financial transactions.

Users can opt to open a shift manually by selecting "select shift" from the file-menu:
The PMS automatically checks for an open shift for the current user when starting any transaction that requires a shift to be open. If no shift is open for the current user then the PMS will prompt the user to open one using the following form:
