Terminology 

This manual contains a lot of terms that might not be clear to new users. Therefore the terms will be explained in more detail.
 
The system administrator is the user in a network that has all rights. The system administrator can grant rights to other users. In IDPMS we call this user group system.
The cursor is the (usually blinking) bar or square that shows the user's position on the screen.
The operating system (OS) is the system that operates a computer and which enables the hardware to function. (Windows 8, Windows 10, etc.)
Hardware means all equipment inside and outside a computer. Hardware is the tangible part of computerization.
Software is understood to mean the programs. Software instructs the computer equipment to carry out tasks.
When two or more computers are connected and are able to exchange information, this is called a network .
An icon is a pictogram or symbol used as a graphic display of a program or function.
A database is a program to save data in a structural manner.
SQL (Structured Query Language) is standardized language for relational databases. With SQL queries can be formed containing the selection criteria for a seek operation.
A link is a reference from one web page to another. In IDPMS we call this a folio that is linked to another folio.
A pull down menu is a menu that opens a window if you click on it, from which something can then be selected.  It is also referred to as a picklist in IDPMS.
A wizard is a tool that enables the user to reach his or her goal step by step or that shows how something can be created or done.
A server is an information-providing computer. It is located in a network environment in which the computers (clients) make use of a "larger" computer (server) for the storage of data or heavy applications.
A browse window is a window which makes it easy to find certain information.
The user name is the name used to log in on IDPMS.
Greyed-out means that a function or command cannot yet be executed. This may have something to do with the user rights or it might become accessible if certain conditions within the program are met.
Shared means that something is shared. IDPMS offers the possibility to share folios with other folios. A "master folio" is created with which the underlying folio will be shared.
A tab can be compared to an old fashioned card-index box. A tab makes it easy to quickly find relevant information.
